Tom Brady Madden Ratings – Thru The Years

Tom Brady: Greatest Video Game Athlete Of All-Time?

Tom Brady wasn’t always the GOAT in RL or in Madden NFL 22.

Brady first appeared in Madden NFL 2001, where he was known as “QB #12.”

Madden NFL 2001 was my absolute FAVORITE Madden ever, until Madden 2005 came out.

I played Madden Football since it was on the Sega Genesis, and, had no deal with the NFLPA. And LOVED it.

One of the features on Madden 2001 that I loved (and would love for years) was the fantasy draft that fed into Franchise Mode.

Certain players at certain rounds I would gravitate towards because the CPU had an algorithm that selected certain positions EARLY AF.

The Madden fantasy draft feature was one of those things you’d NEVER tell your GF about.

GF – “What are you doing?”
You – “Oh, uh…nothing (as you actively perused available back up left guards you’d never heard of in round 29.)

QB was one of these positions. And I was obsessed with recent K State grade, and Tom Brady’s teammate on the Patriots, Michael Bishop.

The ultimate dual threat in college, Bishop’s athleticism didn’t translate to the NFL or CFL. So, I’d end up stashing Brady late AF as well.

Not only did TB12 improve (mostly) year to year, but Madden NFL Football did as well.

Compare 2001 to 2022 and it is incredible how far the game has come.

I’ve been a freelance journalist since 2000 and have had my work published via AskMen, Sports Illustrated, Bleacher Report, Busted Coverage, and Autotrader. I’ve done stand-up comedy. I'm a dad, youth soccer club President, and former team statistician for the oldest indoor football team in the world, the Omaha Beef. I own a design agency in Omaha, NE called lgx branding. I’ve married six couples in 10 years and my Marriage to Still Married ratio is 6:6. I always say, it isn’t so much about the “love,” as it is the tasteless jokes that became vows. I started the I-80 Sports Blog to have all the work I've published located in one place and to write about things I want to write about. I don't take anything too seriously and it is a real time saver.
