Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh Steelers Logo Black Outline

The Pittsburgh Steelers were founded in 1933 and are the 7th oldest franchise in the NFL. Prior to the merger in 1970, the Steelers SUCKED. At one point, they were the oldest team to have never won a championship. But since the merger, the Steelers are one of the perennial best teams in football.
The have won 6 Super Bowls which is tied with the New England Patriots for the most in history. They have played in 16 conference championship games and won 11 of them – both the most in NFL history.
The Steelers have been in 8 Super Bowls, which is tied as the second most appearances with the Broncos and Cowboys – their once hated rivals in the 70s.
Interestingly, the were once called the Pittsburgh Pirates when they entered the NFL, taking their name from the MLB team. They changed their name to the Steelers in 1940.
