2022 NFL Season Predictions w/NFL on Fox Mark Schlereth

Hey, we can’t be any worse than ESPN.

I spoke with NFL on Fox host and 3x Super Bowl Champion Mark Schlereth on the eve of the 2022 NFL season and got his input to deliver these predictions to you.

I am proud to say after writing his name in articles so frequently for many years I can finally spell it without Googling.

Mark gives his predictions and we predict the ENTIRE 2022 NFL SEASON in ONE MINUTE VIA THIS VIDEO:

1 minute 2022 NFL Predictions! Mark Schlereth NFL on FOX

STINK SPEAKS (thanks to LG, Papa John’s, Bush’s Beans and Slickdeals):

Mark, Who are the best two teams in each conference and who do you expect to watch on that BEAUTIFUL LG TV behind you in the Final 4 come AFC and NFC championship time?

“Right now I’d go Bills v Chiefs in a rematch for the AFC Championship. And then Bucs v Rams in the NFC Championship. I’d say the Packers but I think Packers gonna Packer when it comes to playoff time. That’s kind of what they do, right?”

At end of year who is the 2022 NFL MVP and who is the defensive POY?

“NFL MVP goes to a QB which I hate. Its like the Heisman Trophy – its the HYPEman. Its who gets the most hype at QB. To me the best football player in the NFL is Aaron Donald. As long as he isn’t throwing helmets at people he is unstoppable. He should win MVP but won’t. But he will win NFL DPOY.”

The odds on favorite to win the Super Bowl are the Bills. But that division is loaded. Worst case the Pats and Phins win 8-9 games, and I think the Jets w that improved defense will win more than 4 games. Are the Bills overrated?

“They’ve got a great young quarterback in Josh Allen. They’ve made some nice additions to their roster. Defensively, adding Von Miller. They have a great receiving corps with a mixture of young and experienced guys. I love Knox their tight end. Roger Saffold is probably not as well-known as he should be, but he is one of the most physical offensive linemen in football. All those things add up well.

“But here’s the deal: part of winning a championship and I can attest to this as a 3x Super Bowl winner, is being healthy at the end of the season and playing well at the end of the season. And to do that, you’ve got to have some good fortune.

I get that everyone is picking the Bills and I’d probably throw it out there too. But if you’re saying the Bills versus the rest of the field in the AFC, I’ll take the rest of the field. With all those young QBs – from Patrick Mahomes to Russell Wilson – not young but still great – to Joe Burrow. Justin Herbert in Chargerland. There’s a bunch of great young players in the AFC right now.”

2022 NFL Regular Season and Playoff Predictions

AFC East
Bills
Patriots
Dolphins
Jets

Random Notes: I think at the end of 2022 we will look back and say this is the best division in football. The Patriots will win at least 8 games. The revamped Dolphins will win 8 games.

The Jets are my sleeper team of the year – how’s that for a prediction? With that defense bolstered, and a few young studs on offense via the NFL Draft, Saleh has this thing going in the right direction. Based on that, if the Bills win 12 games or more, I’d be impressed. I’d put money on 11. The AFC is loaded in 2022.

AFC West
Chiefs
Raiders
Chargers
Broncos

Random Notes: The Chiefs have won this division 7 years in a row and this will be the 8th. I know the Chargers are a sexy pick, but a Charger is gonna Charger. Just ask Mike McCoy or Anthony Lynn. It’s in their DNA to blow one score games, like the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The Raiders aren’t getting enough shine. Josh McDaniels will complete Hunter Renfrow‘s transition into full-blow Wes Welker.

I have zero confidence in the Broncos. I am firmly entrenched in the “Russell Wilson gets too much credit for his success” camp. What has he won without the Legion of Boom? Well I’ll tell ya, one playoff win in 3 tries. And, I’m tired of seeing him and Ciara everywhere like the new Power Couple. She isn’t a generational singer and he isn’t a generational QB.

AFC South
Colts
Titans
Texans
Jaguars

Random Notes: Would anyone care if there was an earthquake and this division fell all the way to the center of the earth and melted in its molten core (allegedly)? Colts win division by default.

Titans have no WR and already had a hard enough time generating offense. I feel like Derrick Henry is going to 1) Get hurt or 2) Get shut down by opposing defenses, unless he has an Adrian Peterson 2012 season.

I do think the Texans will improve and win more than 2021’s four wins, thanks to Lovie Smith and his new commitment to the running game.

The Jaguars...Trevor Lawrence will improve under Doug Pederson. They spent a lot of money on free agents to help him but Evan Engram sucked in New York and Christian Kirk was the beneficiary of the weapons around him in Arizona.

AFC North
Bengals
Ravens
Steelers
Browns

Random Notes The Bengals (or “Bungles” of my youth) are the sex-drenched pick to win the division and Sam Wyche would love that.

The Ravens finished the division in last place in 2021.

The Steelers will work Najee Harris like a young Jerome Bettis on the Rams.

The Browns are interesting – skill position players up the wazoo. They are 1 season removed from being the best running team in the NFL. Jacoby Brissett is better than you think.

NFC East
Cowboys
Eagles
Redskins
Giants

Random Notes: Cowboys win this division by default, like every year in recent memory. But that offense is not as dynamic or “talented” as people will have you believe. #DakDependent

Eagles are a hot pick thanks to the newly bolstered offense and the expected studliness from Jaylen Hurts.

The Washington Commandos should benefit from Wentz, but are a classic Riverboat Ron 7-10 team.

Giants just aren’t very good.

NFC West
Rams
49ers
Cardinals
Seahawks

Random Notes: Rams got even better in the offseason after winning the Super Bowl.

49ers with Lance are .500. With Jimmy Garoppolo they are a playoff team. I wonder how many weeks it will take for Kyle Shanahan to finger this out.

Cardinals are completely overrated led by Kyler Murray. Murray’s record as a starter is 22-23-1. Baker Mayfield‘s is 29-30. And somehow Murray is worth $200 mil? Make it make sense.

Geno Smith is the starting QB for the Seahawks. What is this, 2015?

NFC North
Packers
Vikings
Lions
Bears

Random Notes: Packers will sleepwalk to a division title even if Mark Murphy came down from the front office and played WR.

Vikings will be sneaky good and snag a playoff spot.

Lions and Bears both suck – and I’m a Bears fan.

NFC South
Buccaneers
Saints
Panthers
Falcons

Random Notes: Tompa Bay is in disarray to some extent. Marital discord for Tom Brady, new head coach, WR corps that is hurting, offensive line woes – but they are still better than any other team in this division.

I do not understand the Saints hype. Their entire season hinges on Jameis Winston. Would you want to be in that spot? Somehow they have Tampa Bay’s number.

Panthers need McCaffery to stay healthy and he probably won’t – he’s played 10 games the past two seasons.

Falcons have a 30-year old WR playing RB and not a single WR you could name outside of Drake London. And Marcus Mariota playing QB. What is this 2015?

2023 NFL Playoffs Predictions:

In case you forgot the playoff format has changed. There are a total of 14 teams–seven from each conference. The top seed from each conference has a bye to the divisional round. It used to be top two seeds, now just one in each conference.
